SPI Activities does not allow its motorized rentals (golf carts, mopeds, scooters) on the beach sand or in the water, per City of South Padre Island rules, and prohibits driving them while drinking alcohol.
SPI Activities enforces the manufacturer's passenger limit per cart (no overloading beyond the rated seat count including the driver), and requires the person who signs the rental agreement to keep the equipment in their own custody for the whole rental — they may not let a friend take over the rental.
SPI Activities requires every driver of a golf cart, moped, or electric scooter to hold a valid driver's license; a learner's permit is not accepted, even for a minor driving with a parent present.
SPI Activities' golf carts, mopeds and scooters are street-legal and may be driven on South Padre Island's public streets, but renters must still obey all traffic laws and posted speed limits.
