How this guide is put together
SouthPadreInfo is a visitor guide. It gathers island planning information into one place and links the organization responsible for each detail, so a reader can go past the summary to the source. It is not a news outlet, and it is not the island's tourism authority.
That matters if you are writing about South Padre Island: this guide is a finding aid, not the origin of a fact. Cite the agency, organizer or operator that publishes the detail, not the guide page that pointed you at it.
Where the facts come from
- The island's tourism office. Visit South Padre Island publishes the official visitor site, with its own Things to Do, Events, Food & Drink, Places to Stay, Plan Your Trip and Meetings & Groups sections.
- Texas Parks and Wildlife. TPWD is a Texas state agency and the authority for fishing and hunting licenses and regulations, state parks, boating rules and wildlife.
- The National Weather Service. The Brownsville/Rio Grande Valley office covers Cameron County including South Padre Island, and publishes forecasts, marine products, South Padre Island tide predictions, rip-current risk and tropical statements.
- Organizers and operators. A dated event, a tournament schedule or a venue program is taken from whoever runs it, and the page links that organizer.
How to check a detail
Open the source link on the guide page and read the original. If the source no longer says what the page says, the page is the thing that is wrong, and a correction request fixes it. Dates, prices, hours and access rules are the details most likely to have moved since a page was written, so recheck those against the responsible organization before you publish.
Where a detail could not be confirmed at a source, the guide says so rather than filling the gap. Absence on a page is not evidence that something does not exist.
Photos and attribution
Some guide photos load from Wikimedia Commons, and the attribution belongs to the original photographer under that image's own license terms. Check the license at the source before reusing an image; a photo appearing here is not a grant of rights from this site.
Visitor photos sent through share a photo are stored for editor review, and only approved submissions appear publicly. Contributors are asked to submit only photos they have the right to share, with permission from people shown. Pending and rejected submissions are not shown in the public gallery.
This guide does not publish a press kit, a media contact or a named spokesperson, and it does not distribute images for reuse.
Corrections
If something here is inaccurate, send it through the correction form with the page address, the detail and a source. It goes to a private review queue. The related editorial policy page describes how the sourcing is meant to work; all guides is the fastest way to see the full set of pages.
