Recognize and respond responsibly
Nassau grouper (Epinephelus striatus) is covered here for identification and responsible encounters. Rare broader-Gulf identification context; this catalog does not claim a South Padre occurrence.
Where it may be encountered
The source describes nearshore Gulf, offshore Gulf settings. This is encounter guidance, not evidence of a current local sighting. Animal movement, weather and water conditions can change whether one is present, so this is not a sighting forecast.
Keep your distance
This guide covers identification and responsible accidental encounters; check the authority source before acting.
Sources and current guidance
