About

Privacy & Terms

Practical South Padre Island guidance for privacy and terms.

Your trip and account

You can browse without an account. My Trip keeps a draft in your browser. Picks you mark — Considering, For sure, Tried it — are kept in this browser, and they stay there after you sign out; to remove them from this browser, use Clear my picks on this device on the Your picks tab of My Trip. After you sign in and open My Trip in this browser, the picks you mark until you sign out are also kept in your account, so you can see them on your other devices; picks that were already in this browser move to your account only if you choose Add them to your account. Only you can see your picks. To show whether a saved event or place has changed, the planner downloads one public list of everything the site lists. Signing in lets you save more than one trip on the site and open a saved trip on another device. A trip is private unless you create a share link for it yourself. A share link is a long unguessable web address that lets anyone holding it read that one trip; it cannot be used to change the trip or to reach your account, it is not listed or indexed anywhere, it stops working on the date shown when you create it (30 days by default), and you can turn it off at any time. A shared copy never includes your confirmation references or your private notes. A printed copy leaves those out too unless you ask for them. On a shared device, sign out when you finish; browser drafts can remain on that device. Do not enter payment-card details, passwords or property access codes in a trip; a payment-card number is refused if you try to save one.

Photos and discussions

The site stores the information you submit so editors can review it. Approved photos, captions, display names and discussion text can appear publicly. Only submit photos you have the right to share, with permission from people shown. Do not include private information in a public contribution. Pending or rejected contributions are not shown in the public gallery or discussion board.

Cookies, browser storage and external services

Sign-in uses cookies, and the trip planner uses browser storage. Clearing browser data can remove an unsaved device draft. Links to businesses take you to other sites with their own terms. Some guide photos load from Wikimedia Commons. Webcam previews and players use external services, including YouTube. Loading those images or players connects your browser to the relevant service.

Optional maps

Interactive maps load only when you select Load map. Doing so connects your browser to OpenStreetMap for tiles; that service receives ordinary connection information such as your IP address. The map does not request GPS location. Directions links open the map provider in a new tab.

Reservations and changing details

Saving a place or an outside reservation in My Trip does not book, pay for, change or cancel it. Deal directly with the provider for booking terms, refunds and changes. Hours, prices, access and conditions can change; confirm important details with the responsible operator or official source.

Questions about your information

Use the contact form for a question about your account, a contribution or information you want corrected or removed. Identify the page or account concerned, but do not include your password or other access credentials. Requests may need identity or ownership checks before action.
