One day: stay around the north end
With only a day, you don't need to see both ends of the island. This suggestion puts Andy Bowie Park and Sea Turtle, Inc. in the same outing, with time between them for lunch, dry clothes and a break. Add the stops below, then remove either one if you'd rather spend longer at the other.
Beach first, if the weather suits
Start at Andy Bowie for your Gulf beach time. Read the park guide before choosing it over a city walkover: parking, access charges and the walk from your car matter when you're carrying chairs or traveling with someone who needs an easier route. Swimming is optional; follow current conditions and the instructions at the beach.
Leave an afternoon option
Sea Turtle, Inc. gives the second part of the day a different focus. Check its visitor information before setting the order: a suggested afternoon is not an opening-time guarantee. Bring a shirt or cover-up after the beach. If it is closed or you'd rather stay outside, consider the Laguna Madre Nature Trail during permitted access hours.
Decide lunch and departure separately
Browse places to eat before everyone is hungry, but don't turn lunch into another island-length drive. Leave your return journey in the plan, including the causeway crossing. Use bridge traffic and weather close to departure; this guide does not estimate today's drive or tell you it is safe to swim.
The button below adds two named stops. Your meal, parking notes and any reservations can be added in My Trip without booking through SouthPadreInfo.
