Three airports, three different ground trips
South Padre Island has no commercial airport of its own. Search BRO, HRL and MFE, then compare the whole journey: flight connections, arrival time, checked-bag timing and the transportation that gets you from the terminal to the island.

Airlines and nonstop routes change, so use BRO, HRL and MFE directly for the dates you need instead of choosing from an old airline list.
If you want public transit from BRO
Read the airport page and both transit operators before treating the trip as booked. BRO names Las Palmas Shopping Center in Port Isabel as the transfer point. The airport page gives a broad service description, while Island Metro publishes its own current schedule and route map. Those descriptions are not identical, so use each operator for its leg and leave room for the transfer.
The Island Metro guide covers the Port Isabel-to-island portion, including the correct side of the road, live bus-location tool and luggage or beach-gear limits. If your flight arrives too late for the complete transit chain, arrange another ride before landing.
If you are reserving a shuttle or taxi
Confirm the airport code, flight number, passenger count, luggage, child-seat needs, mobility equipment, pickup point, total price and what happens after a flight delay. “Airport shuttle” does not automatically mean service from all three airports, and an airport's provider list does not guarantee a vehicle for your arrival.
For the return, confirm whether pickup is at the lodging entrance or another meeting point and how the provider handles bridge traffic. Save the dispatch contact with the reservation.
If you are renting a car
Check the exact counter location and return instructions on the airport's own rental-car page. Then ask your lodging how many vehicles the reservation includes and whether an oversized vehicle or trailer will fit. Continue with getting here, parking and bridge traffic for the mainland-to-island part of the trip.
