A pier can be an easy way to try bay fishing
You get a fixed place to stand, and you don't need a boat. First make sure the platform is public and open—not every dock is public. Check the lighting, rail height, parking, restrooms, and the route from the car if anyone in your group has mobility needs. A dock on a map may still be private.
Leave room for everyone else
Shared rail space limits how many rods and rigs you can manage. Keep bait and hooks contained, choose tackle you can use without blocking the walkway, and let people pass behind you. Ownership, construction, posted rules, crowds, and water level can change access, so follow the signs you find there.
