The bay is shallower than it looks
The Lower Laguna Madre is broad, shallow, and rich in seagrass. From shore, it's easy to underestimate the depth changes and navigation hazards. If you're deciding between wading, a kayak, a skiff, or a charter, think about your experience, the wind, the bottom, marked channels, and how you'll avoid damaging seagrass.
Plan the trip back
Wind can change the bay's water level and build short, steep chop. A flat you know may be exposed or hard to reach on a different day. Use local navigation knowledge, carry a clear return plan, and don't treat a saved map pin as proof that you can enter there or travel the route safely.
