Jetty fishing starts with the walk out
The Brazos Santiago jetties put you beside Gulf and pass water, but the route crosses uneven rock with gaps, spray, and little room for loose gear. Look at the conditions from a safe spot before carrying anything out. Wear suitable footwear, bring a landing tool, and leave yourself a clear path back.
Don't let a calm beach fool you
Swell and passing vessels can wash water over the rocks even when the nearby sand looks calm. Algae and spray can make the footing worse as the session goes on. Don't fish exposed rock alone. Stay back when the water is rough, keep children and non-anglers away from the working edge, and return before darkness hides the route.
