Winter fishing can still work in South Texas
The important question is what the next north front is doing. A front can sharply change wind, water level, water temperature, and how comfortable you'll be. Shore and protected-bay water may suit the day better than open water, exposed surf, or the jetties.
Dress for the time you'll actually be outside, and think about the wading depth and the trip back—not only the tackle. A calm afternoon may feel completely different from dawn.
Take cold events seriously
Cold weather can bring temporary notices, closures, and special wildlife-handling concerns. Don't add stress to cold-stunned wildlife, and choose a trip you can leave easily.
